I'm attending Chick-fil-A's Leadercast on Friday. I was given instructions to bring my phone, laptop or iPad to be a part of the conversation during the event and to make sure that I have Twitter, FourSquare, and a QR Code reader available before I arrive. I was instructed to go to Twitter.com and log in if I have an account or create one on the homepage to BE A FOLLOWER (followers are people who are interested in what others have to say).
During my morning meditations, I study scriptures from my favorite bible, a 1995 Christmas gift pictured here from my mother-in-law. The colored tabs help me quickly find some of the scriptures and devotions that spoke specifically to my heart when I read them. This morning, I referenced one of those tabs. In the 4th chapter of Judges, Deborah, a prophetess and judge, sent for Barak and told him to take 10,000 men to Mount Tabor where Deborah was going to lure Sisera (an oppressor of the Israelites for years) and his troops and give them into Barak's hands. But Barak said to her: If you go with me, I will go; but if you don't go with me, I won't go. Deborah said to Barak: Go! This is the day the Lord has given Sisera into your hands. Has not the Lord gone ahead of you? Chapter 1 of Deuteronomy has a similar message. Moses spoke to the nation of Israel in the desert. He said: The Lord our God said to us at Horeb, "You have stayed long enough at this mountain...Go in and take possession of the land that the Lord swore he would give to your fathers -- to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob -- and to their descendants after them." Moses reminded the Israelites how unwilling they were to take possession of the land because they were afraid. He said to them: Do not be terrified; do not be afraid of them. The Lord, your God, who is going before you, will fight for you, as he did in Egypt, before your very eyes, and in the desert. There you saw how the Lord your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place.
As I read His Word today, the phrases "Has not the Lord gone ahead of you?" and "The Lord your God who is going before you" spoke volumes to me. Deuteronomy 13:4 reminds me that it is the LORD my God I must follow, and Him I must revere. Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people (Matthew 4:12). If the Lord is going before me, then I must without question, follow Him.

I haven't rejected all of social media, after all, I am a blogger! Even though Twitter is used by people in nearly every country in the world, I don't have nor do I desire a Twitter account. I'm just not interested in following anyone but God. Who are you following?
